Starfish AP is looking for an experienced and compassionate Alternative Provision Lead to provide confident day-to-day leadership across our Hampshire settings.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can create calm, safe and purposeful environments where children and young people aged 7–16 can rebuild trust, re-engage with learning and make meaningful progress.

About the role

You will lead high-quality, relationship-first practice across our provision, supporting staff to deliver consistent education, SEMH support and practical learning shaped around each young person.

• Lead the safe and effective day-to-day running of our settings.
• Support, guide and develop teaching and mentoring staff.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, attendance, behaviour support and record keeping.
• Coordinate placements and work closely with families, schools, local authorities and other professionals.
• Monitor learners’ progress and help plan successful reintegration or onward progression.
• Promote The Starfish Way: safety, trust, attunement, regulation, flexibility, inclusion, support and humanity.

About you

You will have substantial experience of education, alternative provision or SEMH services, together with strong leadership skills and a calm, child-centred approach. You will understand that behaviour is communication and be able to combine high expectations with flexibility, empathy and professional curiosity.
