Our safeguarding leadership

Chloe Fox, Director and Head of Provision, is Starfish AP’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). She is supported by trained permanent staff, but safeguarding remains the responsibility of every adult working with or on behalf of Starfish AP.

How we keep children safe

  • Staff receive appropriate safeguarding training and understand how to recognise and report concerns.
  • We use safer recruitment procedures and maintain clear professional expectations for everyone working with children.
  • Concerns are recorded and managed securely, with information shared appropriately with schools, local authorities and other agencies.
  • We respond early, listen carefully to children and keep their needs at the centre of decisions.
  • Our sites, activities and visitor arrangements are risk assessed and regularly reviewed.
  • Online safety is supported through managed filtering and monitoring arrangements, with specialist ICT support from Harrap ICT and safeguarding oversight from Starfish AP.

Raising a concern

If you are worried about a child connected with Starfish AP, please contact us and make clear that your message concerns safeguarding. Do not delay reporting because you are unsure.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. If the concern cannot wait, contact the relevant local authority children’s services or the police.

Our safeguarding policy

Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy explains our responsibilities and procedures. The current working version is being reviewed by Starfish AP’s education leadership team and will be replaced by the approved version once it has been signed off.
