A different place to reset and grow
Ringside Learning is a relationship-first alternative provision for children and young people aged 7–16 who are finding mainstream education difficult.
The setting brings personalised learning into a purposeful boxing-club environment. Clear routines, trusted adults and achievable challenges help learners reset, experience success and develop a more positive connection with education.
Learning with purpose and pace
Each learner follows a programme shaped around their needs, strengths, interests and agreed goals. Support includes personalised English and maths, AQA Unit Award Scheme opportunities, SEMH mentoring, practical learning and life-skills development.
Manageable three-hour sessions provide structure without overwhelming the learner, combining focused education with movement and purposeful activity.
More than boxing
Boxing-inspired coaching can strengthen focus, discipline, coordination and resilience. Pad work, footwork, skipping, fitness and movement provide positive ways to manage energy, respond to instruction and keep going when something feels difficult.
This is not simply a sports programme. The aim is to build communication, emotional regulation, teamwork and independence while supporting meaningful educational progress.
A partnership built around each learner
Starfish AP leads education, safeguarding, admissions and each learner’s individual programme. The Boxing Club contributes experienced coaching, sporting expertise and an authentic training environment.
Together, the partners create a safe and motivating setting where young people can build trust, recognise their strengths and take positive steps forward.
A calm, safe approach to challenge
Every activity is introduced at the right level for the individual. Young people can develop coordination, fitness and confidence through structured coaching without pressure to compete or take part in contact boxing.
Staff use clear boundaries, encouragement and reflection to help learners manage frustration, make considered choices and recognise their own progress.
